At Alhyatt Heart and Vascular Center We use a variety of tests to diagnose heart failure. Our specialists look for evidence of infections, valve dysfunction, high blood pressure, previous heart attacks and other conditions that could lead to heart failure.
Alhyatt Heart and Vascular Center follows the Egyptian-French program for the treatment of the weakness of the heart muscle.
Our diagnostic tools include:
- Physical exam.
- Lab tests.
- Electrocardiography.
- Angiography.
- Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)
- Trans esophageal echocardiography.
- Cardiac catheterization.
Treatment options
We treat all stages and types of heart failure, giving you options from early-prevention through late-stage.
Our specialists are experts in therapies to improve the heart’s ability to pump, increase blood circulation, remove excess fluid buildup and prevent abnormalities in heart rhythm.
Most heart failure and cardiomyopathy patients receive drug therapy as part of their treatment.
Medication is typically used in conjunction with other therapies, including:
Pacemakers
Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices, also known as biventricular pacemakers, make the lower chambers (ventricles) of the heart contract simultaneously, resulting in better cardiac function. Some pacemakers combine biventricular pacing with defibrillation, which jump-start the heart or control abnormally fast or slow heart rhythms.
Temporary pacemaker
It is used in case of emergency, as in myocardial infarction
ICD implantation
You might need animplantable cardioverter-defibrillator if you have a dangerously fast heartbeat or a chaotic heartbeat that keeps your heart from supplying enough blood to the rest of your body.
ICDs detect and stop abnormal heartbeats (arrhythmias). The device continuously monitors your heartbeat and delivers electrical pulses to restore a normal heart rhythm when necessary.
VVI pacemaker
It is one of the more commonly used pacing modes. The ventricle is paced;this mode of pacing prevents ventricular bradycardia and is primarily indicated in patients with atrial fibrillation with a slow ventricular response.
DDDR pacemaker
It is a dual chamber system. It possesses pacing and sensing capabilities in both the atrium and the ventricle, and it is the most commonly used pacing mode. This mode is most appropriate for patients with combined sinus node dysfunction and AV nodal dysfunction.
Cardiac rehabilitation
Alhyatt center’s comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program offers education on symptom control and help to manage risk factors such as high blood pressure, obesity, smoking and other lifestyle changes.
Although there is no cure for heart failure, there are many things you can do to relieve your symptoms. It has been shown that those who participate in a structured heart failure program have fewer complications and hospitalizations
Heart Failure Program Goals:
- Understanding the causes and symptoms of heart failure.
- Knowing when to call your doctor.
- Understanding medications
