Professor Hosam Fawzy is a Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Toronto, Canada since April 2015. His other appointment is a professor of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at the University of Tanta, Egypt since January 2010. After receiving his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Tanta University, Egypt, he completed his Cardio-Thoracic surgery residency and obtained his M.Sc. in surgery at Tanta University Hospitals. Subsequently, he completed his fellowship training in Cardiovascular Surgery at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, USA where he also fulfilled his PhD degree as a joint collaboration between the Cleveland Clinic and Tanta University.
Professor Fawzy was awarded his MD degree in Cardio-Thoracic Surgery from Ain Shams University in 2000. He later underwent a clinical fellowship in Cardiovascular Surgery at St. Michael’s Hospital in 2009. He is certified by the Egyptian Medical Syndicate and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, Canada. Professor Fawzy holds the patent of a new Tricuspid annuloplasty ring and was granted The University of Toronto Leadership Award in June 2009.
